Howard Gimbel Memorial Foundation

My name is Sarah Gimbel and I am President and founder of the Howard Gimbel Memorial Foundation.

My father, Howard Gimbel, was a 20 year motorcycle officer and Traffic Homicide Investigator for the Tampa Police Department. In May 2016 he was killed in a tragic motorcycle accident on his personal motorcycle as a result of the actions of another driver. My mother, Tonya, suffered severe injury in the crash as well and all this happened one month prior my graduation from Riverview High School. As you can imagine, the following weeks were difficult to say the least. As I sat in the ICU by my recovering mother’s bedside, I found myself at times alone with an uncertain future.

Giving Back to the Community

1st Annual Howard Gimbel Memorial Scholarship

At the 1st Annual Howard Gimbel Memorial Shoot we gave away a $1,000 scholarship to Matthew Coleman, who is currently a Freshman at the University of South Florida majoring in Civil Engineering. Matthew was on the FishHawk Dynasty shooting team, which is a youth shooting program that promotes and encourages organized shooting to students 8 to 18. FishHawk Dynasty is a chapter of the nationally recognized Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP), and we donated money to help them attend the national championships for SCTP in the summer of 2017.
